Where do I even begin with Liv and Will? Liv and I met many almost half a decade ago at the wedding of a dear friend, where we spent the final hours of the night chatting on a couch together, throwing back some drinks, and dreaming about the unknown. Little did I know at the time that I would be spending one of the most important days of her life with her. Their Place D'Armes Hotel wedding holds a special place in my heart as the very first international wedding I've had the honor of photographing.
As a Seattle wedding photographer, I'm not stranger to mountains, lakes, large trees and misty waterfalls, but the idea of photographing a downtown Old Montreal wedding couldn't have been more exciting. A city hundreds of years old, filled with hilly cobble streets, exquisitely unique french culture, intricate European architecture, it's a photographers dream. Not to mention the abundance of poutine cause we are in Canada after all. Nonetheless, Liv and Will put their trust in us to traverse the U.S. border to join them in their home city for an absolutely stunning intimate wedding.
The Hotel Place D'Armes, a nearly 150 year looming piece of architecture, originally built by the Great Scottish Life Insurance Company as it's headquarters, turned into a modern luxury hotel couldn't have been a more spectacular place for such an intimate wedding. With a sprawling rooftop view of Montreal, it was the perfect location for a sunny summery ceremony filled with so much laughter and just the right amount of happy tears.
